Wednesday Welcome: Two Dog Days
Each week I'm using Etsy's Pounce feature in order to discover new items "from undiscovered shops waiting for their first sale" as the Etsy site states. This week's welcome is extended to Two Dog Days in Canada. The jewelry is made from metal clay which is pure silver particles mixed with a binder. Once dried it is fired in a kiln. This burns off the binder and leaves 99.9% pure silver. Next it is hand polished then oxidized and hand polished again. These whimsical pieces are created really show the artist's creativity!

Wednesday Welcome: GKJ Designs
Each week I'm using Etsy's Pounce feature in order to discover new items "from undiscovered shops waiting for their first sale" as the Etsy site states. This week's welcome is extended to GKJ Designs of Seattle. Shop owner Gary is an opal cutter and believes "that the fire and color found in precious opal express more than can be said in words. It is truly one of nature’s most beautiful gems." I have to agree, and not just because the opal is my birthstone. Here are a few of his creations:

Wednesday Welcome: Green Earth Jewelry
Each week I'm using Etsy's Pounce feature in order to discover new items "from undiscovered shops waiting for their first sale" as the Etsy site states. This week's welcome is extended to Green Earth Jewelry of Philadelphia. This shop is a perfect choice for an Earth Day feature since this jewelry designer says in her profile "My second love is the environment, which is why I only use recycled metals in my designs now. I purchase my metals from a refiner that never buys metal from mines, meaning they recycle precious metal scrap from jewelers or buy from other refiners who do not buy from mines. I also use fair trade or responsibly mined gemstones when possible." Nice policies and nice jewelry!

Wednesday Welcome: Stone Creek Designs
Each week I'm using Etsy's Pounce feature in order to discover new items "from undiscovered shops waiting for their first sale" as the Etsy site states. This week's welcome is extended to Stone Creek Designs of Bozeman, Montana. Jewelry designer and metalsmith Kristin Fletcher says "I design and fabricate jewelry that is simple, timeless and sturdy. Because it is all hand built, please rejoice in its slight variations, much like life. The jewels can be dressed up or dressed down. All items are handmade by me and I use fine metals and semiprecious stones. I really enjoy working with mixed metals!" Her rings are not only beautiful, they have a unique feature about their fit as well: they are finger shaped rather than round! Kristin says her customers find them to be very comfortable.
